Anthony Sharot | Treating loss of concentration/Loss of memoryWhen you're under a lot of stress, it can feel like you're losing your mind sometimes. You're forgetful or you can not concentrate on the tasks ahead of you. This can cause you to feel even more stress as you fail to accomplish tasks you've been designated to do. To help you get your memory and focus back, you can use some of these relaxation techniques and stress management tips.- If you feel like you're losing your memory, it can help you to have a list of the things that you need to get done. Create a list for the next day the night before and come back to it in the morning. You can also keep these lists in order to see what you have accomplished each day to keep your mind aware of where you are at with particular projects.
- Take time way from your desk if you want to improve your focus. When you push yourself too hard, you will cause your brain to feel overloaded, which can then make you feel like you're not accomplishing anything consequential. Instead of allowing your body to feel this way, try to get up and move every hour. This will help your mind ‘reset' itself and allow it to go back to its task.
- You can also try working with the way your mind operates in order to get the most out of it. Since the normal adult attention span is about ninety minutes, try to schedule your day in these segments. By switching your focus every ninety minutes or taking breaks, you will be working with your body instead of against it. If you find that you have a shorter or longer attention span, simply adjust your time intervals.
- You can also create a reminder service for yourself by using a large calendar in your home or office. You just don't need to keep everything in your head. Try to keep your important tasks and appointments on this calendar in order to keep your life in order and your stress levels low. There are also many free online calendars that can help you with this or you can simply use a piece of paper next to your desk or in a place where you can refer to it often.
Managing your stress will allow you to be more focused than you thought possible. And the more focused you are, the more confident you will be in your memory and your life. What Relaxation Training Specialists The 4th R Can Do For You We invite you to learn more about our services as they relate to:
