Stress from fussiness

Fussiness isn't just for small children and babies. Under stress, adults can get pretty fussy and hard to deal with too. Instead of retreating to your bed until the stress dies down, you can learn to cope and learn tips that are perfect for stopping stress. When you learn how to relax, you will learn how to keep your demeanor friendly and peaceful.
  • Be clear about what's making you upset - If you have a concern that needs to be addressed, be sure to present your problem to the proper people (i.e. your supervisor or your spouse). By voicing your concerns, you won't have to resort to complaining or fussing about things that upset you. Give your feelings a voice so that you can do something about the situation.

  • Manage small flames before they become fires - If you're beginning to get fussy about a certain situation, stop and address it before you move onto anything else. This will help you learn to manage things before they get out of hand as well as learn how to avoid the triggers that would usually land you in a state of fussiness.

  • Accept help from others - While you may want to curl up and have everyone leave you alone, it's generally better to take any help that others area offering in order to get problems sorted out more quickly. Instead of shouldering all the burden of your stress, why not lean on others? You can always return the favor later.

  • Talk about other people's stress - By taking the focus off of your concerns, you may be able to put your problems into perspective. Try to listen to others when they need your help too and try to help them sort through any issues they may be having. Seek out others in order to help them with their problems and become the ‘go to' person for stress management.

  • Allow yourself a temper tantrum - With a trusted friend or coworker, go ahead and have a mini temper tantrum. Yell, complain, and wail about the things you dislike in your life at the moment. But only do this for two minutes and then get back to your life.

Being fussy under stress is actually quite common in adults. And while it might seem childish, it's simply a way of dealing with problems when they seem too big for us to handle.
