The flow of speech is also characterized by involuntary silent pauses or blocks in which the individual is unable to produce sounds. In other words, it is a communication, speech and behavioral disorder, which affects the basic flow of speech of an individual. The speech disruptions are usually accompanied by rapid eye blinks, tremors of lips and other jaw behaviors of the face or upper body. What causes Stammering Human behavior is a complex web of different traits of nature and mind-sets. All types of environmental stimuli and factors influence the development of the patterns of human behavior, including both the positive as well as negative traits. The negative factors especially play a very crucial role in the development of an individual’s nature. For instance, a person who remains perpetually tense and anxious is likely to develop a number of behavioral and communication disorders. In fact, such disorders not only develop due to negative forces in the environment, but the symptoms actually aggravate due to the presence of tension, anxiety or stress. Medical research has proven that all types of speech and behavioral disorders are partially caused due to the presence of negative emotions such as stress, fear and anxiety. Most of the people who suffer from stammering agree that the problem increases in situations where they feel nervous and tense, such as in public, on a stage or even in a small group of people. To prevent the problem of stammering from becoming chronic and a lifelong disorder, it is very important that the individual concerned learns how to manage stress and anxiety, and learns how to relax. If you are suffering from stammering and seeking professional help, the first remedial measure that is normally recommended is to practice proper relaxation techniques and relaxation exercises.
