Learning to relax Some people would be of the opinion that the trick to health, happiness and success ultimately rests in “being yourself”. What if in fact you were always being yourself? How about if, how ever you are in any given moment, is always a manifestation of you “being yourself”? You are a human being that is constantly evolving in mind, body and spirit, so instead of striving to “be yourself” as if there’s a true you that’s constant in some way, it may be more appropriate to live each day of your life with the idea of being who you want to be becoming. (It’s “….be becoming” (rather than just “…..become”), because it’s a process). This shift from “being yourself”/a static position, to “being who it is you want to be becoming” / a transient evolving position, does require complete self-responsibility because the onus is on you, every moment of every day, to make the shifts necessary in your behaviour to be who it is you want to be becoming. So, with this in mind, who are you being today, and more importantly, who do you want to be becoming? The best part is that you get to decide, and it has nothing to do with how you have been in the past. The other bonus to look forward to is that making decisions becomes very easy! (The key question when making any decision in life becomes “is dong X in line with who I want to be becoming?”) Drive yourself relaxed Are you sitting bolt upright, frowning and gripping the steering wheel with all your might when you drive? Driving your car is a prime time for getting tense. Try this awareness exercise to combat tension and drive yourself relaxed instead. At traffic lights or in a traffic jam, take a few seconds to concentrate on yourself:

The Thinker and the Prover What you think becomes the reality that you experience because, as noted by Dr. Leonard Orr, the human mind behaves as if it were divided into two parts, the Thinker and the Prover. The Thinker part of your mind can think about virtually anything. “I’m a good salesman” – “I’m funny” – “Cats have seven lives” – “Work is making me ill” – “He doesn't love me anymore” – “Relaxing naturally is easy”. The job of the Prover part of your mind is simple. What ever the Thinker thinks, the Prover proves. It finds evidence to validate what ever you are thinking. You create the reality that you experience Your behaviour is a reflection of the reality that you create in your mind.
