Are you passionate about what you do? "Retirement? What's that all about? I don't ever plan to stop doing what I love!" This was the response of a friend when we got talking about pensions over a coffee the other day. He also added that he's ne(v)er been healthier since doing something in life that he really enjoys, so he doesn't anticipate having to stop for health reasons either! This kind of attitude comes about through doing what you love, and although it takes some courage to take the leap and follow your passion (for example some life style changes may have to be made) the reward is handsome. When you are doing what you feel you want to do from the inside, you'll find the universe will respond in kind. Selling your soul leaves you un-whole Follow your heart if you're really smart Under the spotlight These two words are often mentioned together in the same breath and perhaps this is because a person’s physiology and their emotions are inseparable. At a nuts and bolts level this means that how you organize your physiology impacts how you are feeling – the “mood” you are in. Our work with clients shows us time and again that “bliss” is indeed hardwired into human beings, and further still, that it’s possible to teach a person how to access this hardwired way of being intentionally, instead of it being left to chance of “having a good day”. Something very practical that you can start doing yourself is to “*follow your bliss” (your bliss being the emotional state that’s present when your physiology is organized in a particular way). To do this you need to: 1. Notice how you are physically when you are at your best. How is your body positioned? Are there any gestures that you notice you make? What do you notice about your breathing, shifts in your posture, minute muscular adjustments? What do you notice about where you put your attention in your minds eye? 2. Practice being this way by replicating the things you notice about yourself when you are at your best. *Joseph Campbell, Mythologist and author of "The Hero With A Thousand Faces" Relaxation is proven to affect your immune system In 1990 Howard Hall proved that the immune system could be consciously controlled by “cyber physiologic strategies”. The word cyber derives from the Greek “kybernetes” meaning “that which steers” or “the helmsman” and in this context one of the cyber physiologic strategies used was the self-regulatory practice of relaxation. Using several control groups, it was proved possible to use relaxation to consciously increase the stickiness of while blood cells, as measured by saliva and blood tests. Hot topic A network is an integrated information system with communication occurring between the various components. An example of a network is YOU. Vital organs in your body are all linked together by information carriers known as neuropeptides, and it is neuropeptides and their receptors that make up what we refer to as “emotions”. This means your emotions are a result of the information exchange between your bodily processes, and the thing that holds the entire network together, and manages that information exchange, is your mind (which doesn't’t actually exist any where in your body as a physical or tangible thing).Information flow can be unconscious, occurring outside of your awareness, or conscious, occurring in your awareness. Here are 3 things you can do to take conscious control of yourself:
