Profound Relaxation Becoming ever more at ease within yourself
Charles Moore The4thR | Pacing the floorIf you feel like you just can't sit still when you're stressed, you might find yourself pacing the floor. You're going over ideas and problems in your mind until you finally figure them out. But when you're pacing the floor constantly, you can also feel like you're not getting anywhere with your stress. To help you calm down and stop pacing, here are some proven relaxation techniques:- Stop and breathe - When you're ready to start pacing, it's time to start breathing instead. Sit down or stand up and begin to breathe in and out as deeply as you can. Do this slowly and try to feel your body relaxing as you do so. You can do this as many times as necessary to calm your body down and slow your heart and lungs. The more you watch your breathing, the more you will be able to maintain this deep breathing during the rest of your life.
- Tense up to relax - Try lying down or sitting in a chair with your eyes closed. Starting at your feet, try to tense as many muscles as you can and then relax them. Move your way slowly up your body until you have tensed and relaxed every muscle group that you can. This helps your body relax more deeply and is excellent when you're filled with stressful thoughts right before bedtime.
- Try yoga - Yoga is simply one of the best ways to change your focus off of the stress in your life and put the focus back on your body. By learning basic poses, you can use these poses whenever you are feeling anxious. You can also fit yoga classes into your weekly schedule to help you continue the relaxing feelings.
- Meditation works too - By sitting in a quiet spot, you can clear your mind and prevent yourself form pacing the floor. Close your eyes and try to quiet your mind. Whenever you have a thought enter your mind, simply let it go and try to keep your mind quiet. You can breathe in and out to help you have something to focus on, but focus only on your breathing.
