Sam Riordan | Lethargy caused by stressIf you find yourself dragging during your workday or during your life, chances are good that stress has had something to do with it. Lethargy is a common complaint among those that are continuously stressed out. But it differs from fatigue in the sense that it creates almost a stupor about it. It's much more difficult to control than simple fatigue and needs more than just a good night's rest in order to be relieved. With these relaxation techniques and stress management tools, you can lift the fog of your lethargy and get back into your life.- Try to figure out what's bothering you the most - Try writing down everything that is bothering you about work or life on a piece of paper. Give yourself five minutes to write down anything that comes into your mind without stopping or censoring what you have to say. When you're done look over your sheet of paper to see what things keep popping up. Sometimes just identifying what is 'wrong' with your life can help you feel better about it.
- Empty your brain - At the end of each day, take a few minutes to write down everything that happened and how you felt about it. This will help you to decompress and revitalize yourself after a long day of work. It will also help you transition from work time to home time, from stress to relaxation. Some people find that doing this first thing in the morning works better, but that's a choice you will need to make.
- Give yourself time away - When you've been under a lot of stress, you need to give your body and your mind some time to relax. Whether this means that you need to workout or do some other activity, that's up to you. Simply find something that occupies your mind so completely that you can not even think of your stress, even if you wanted to.
- Take deep breaths - Much of lethargy is caused by not breathing properly as well. Try taking more deep breaths during each day, focusing on filling your body with healthy air and more oxygen for energy. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth loudly in order to get the maximum benefit.
Lethargy does not have to be a permanent state when you are under a lot of stress. You can face it and fight it off with success - and get your head out of those clouds. What Relaxation Training Specialists The 4th R Can Do For You We invite you to learn more about our services as they relate to:
