| Frequent cryingIt seems like every office or neighborhood has someone that cries whenever they are under a lot of stress. For some, this is a way to release the physical feelings of stress while others feel helpless and hopeless, leading to the frequent crying. But in a professional setting, this kind of response is frowned upon. To help you manage your crying response, here are some relaxation techniques you can use.- Minimize your stress overall - When you take the time to find relaxation techniques that will soothe you, you will prevent yourself from responding to stress by crying. Try taking a yoga class or doing some meditation each morning. Whatever gives you a sense of calm, try to work that activity into your day so that you can manage your stress before it spills onto your face.
- Walk away when you begin to feel the tears - If you can, try to excuse yourself if you begin to feel a crying period come on. Close the door of your office or head to the bathroom until you can collect yourself. It's not a bad thing to cry, but when you're in a professional setting, you want to lessen the times that your coworkers seeing you doing so. Sit until you are calmed, splash some cold water onto your face, and then go back to work.
