I recommend Charles to anyone who really wants to make powerful life changes elegantly John Lavalle Master Trainer of NLP and DHE Co author of Persuasion Engineering | Dry mouth caused by stressIf you have dry mouth and/or dry throat when you're dealing with stress, you're not alone. The body can start to shut down unnecessary functions when it's under a lot of pressure - like your saliva flow in the mouth. To help you keep from drying up, there are a number of relaxation techniques you can do, but also many simple steps you can take in your life right now.- Drink more water - It seems like common sense, but when you have a dry mouth, you want to continue to drink water to help moisten up the mouth area. Try to sip water frequently throughout the day as dry mouth can also be a sign of dehydration - and that's not something you need when you're managing stress.
- Add a humidifier to your space - Often, office buildings and homes can become dry during certain parts of the year. To help add moisture back into the air, try using a humidifier or steamer in your general location. Simply adding plants or a bowl of water can also help to add moisture back into the air. Or try a soothing fountain that mists from time to time.
- Chew gum - When you chew, your body naturally secretes more saliva in order to begin the digestion process. To start your juices flowing again, try chewing on gum during the day. There are many gums that are actually designed to promote saliva production, so they will be a great help to you in your dry mouth problems. Plus, you won't have to worry about having bad breath.
- Avoid regular stimulants - As dry mouth is often an indication that your body is running at too fast a speed, try reducing the caffeine, nicotine, and sugars in your diet. By teaching your body to slow down, it will be able to continue its normal functions.
- Take a deep breath - By remembering to breathe during your day, you can help your body stop the adrenaline response that might be drying your mouth or throat. Whenever you think about it, try to take three to six deep breaths with your eyes closed.
A dry mouth might be a sign of nervousness that passes and for some, it's a condition that plagues them as they face their day. By learning to manage your stress with these tips, you will find yourself much more comfortable.
