Drinking alchol at lunchtime

Having a drink every now and then to unwind is fine, but having to drink when you're halfway through your workday is not fine. No matter if you're dealing with customers or not, alcohol at lunchtime is a sign that you're under too much stress at work and that you need to find other ways to calm down in the middle of your day. To help with managing stress, you can use these tips:
  • Create a journal of your frustrations - Create a log of all the things you are upset about during the day at work. Not only will this help you to release the anger you are feeling, but it will also help you see just how often you are upset about things. Having these frustrations down on paper might allow you to notice that you need a new job.

  • If others are persuading you to drink - You might also be a part of a group at work that likes to drink over their lunch hour, but this is in poor form for all of you. While you can not control what others do, you can stop yourself from taking part. Try turning down their offers to go out at lunch or simply do not order a drink when you are out with them. Once they see that you are not participating in the drinking anymore, they might stop inviting you to come.

  • Head outside for a walk - If you're feeling a lot of stress in your job, so much that you need some sort of break in the middle of the day, why not try a brisk walk over your lunch hour? Bring some appropriate shoes with you and find someone to join you. This will help you burn off extra calories as well as any tension that may have built up in the morning.

  • Create breathing time in you day - Try to take breaks every hour in order to keep from getting too stressed during your day. This might mean that you get up from your desk for a few minutes every hour or that you simply close your eyes for a minute or two each hour. Whatever it takes to help you slow down and relax, try to add it into your day.

  • Get help for your drinking - If you find that the only way you can unwind is by drinking, you may need more help than just some relaxation techniques. Try talking to a trusted friend, you can start the process and have them help you find someone that treats addictions. You can join support groups and online message boards as well to help you talk out your problems and find new ways to deal with them.
