![]() Profound Relaxation Becoming ever more at ease within yourself | AromatherapyAromatherapy can be used during other relaxation methods as well. You can apply aromatherapy scents to the skin during a massage treatment, for example. Or you can have an aromatherapy candle burning when you are doing a meditation. You can also use these relaxations methods just for the scents that you apply to your environment and to your body without any additional techniques. It is thought that the scents in aromatherapy help to boost the body's ability to support itself in times of stress. And as far back as the days of the Romans, aromatherapy has been used for curative properties. By using materials like essential oils, carrier oils, herbs, flowers, and other scent sources, you can create a blend of aromas that will work together to provide your body with the relaxation methods it needs. Some of the more common scents used in aromatherapy relaxation training are lavender for calm, mint for energy, basil for helping with focus and depression, flowers for a romantic response, and lemon for energizing your mind. You can use these as essential oils by placing a few drops into an unscented lotion or carrier oil and then putting onto the skin. You can also use the essential oils on a piece of cloth or in an oil burner to release the aroma into the air wherever you are. The only thing you want to keep in mind during these relaxation methods is that you shouldn't put the essential oils on your skin - they can burn and hurt (not very stress relieving). You'll want to experiment with different aromatherapy blends and oils to see which ones work best for you. But once you've found these easy and inexpensive relaxation methods, you will be able to take them wherever you go.
