| Accident proneIf you find yourself tripping or falling more often when you're stressed, you're not the only one. When your mind is constantly preoccupied with your life, you can become much more accident prone. Some of this is due to a lack of attention while it can also be caused by fatigue. To help you learn how to relax, here are some stress management tips that will keep you from hurting yourself.- Try to live in the present moment - For most of us, the main distractions in our lives are those that cause us to reflect on the past and contemplate the future. Instead, maybe you should start to look at the past and the future as unchangeable - because they are. Try to look at where you are in the present moment as well as how you are feeling in the present moment. This will help you pay close attention to the NOW instead of the things you can not change.
- Try a relaxing exercise program - When you try Yoga or Pilates or T'ai Chi, you will encourage yourself to be more aware of how your body moves. This can help you be less accident prone overall. You can also learn more about balance and agility in these kinds of classes as well as how to quiet your mind. Just doing some form of these exercises once or twice a week can dramatically decrease your chances of unnecessary injury.
- Move slowly - When you are moving from place to place too quickly, you can be setting yourself up for injuries. Try today to move at a slower pace, regardless of what you are doing or where you are going. Drive more slowly, move more slowly, and even breathe more slowly. With an intention on moving more slowly, you will create stillness in your mind that will protect you from injury.
- Don't worry about falling - If you're constantly on the lookout for a fall or an injury, you may be creating conditions in which this is more possible. Try to distract these thoughts and think only about positive things. Don't even think about the fact that you 'may' fall as this will only cause your body to hear the word 'fall' in your mind.
Accident prone people might have more troubles when they are stressed, but by being intentional in their movements and in their lives, they can certainly keep both feet on the ground.
